Consolidated time management application

Keeping track of your colleague’s time is difficult at the best of times but often a necessary evil. Consolidated Communications Management contacted us with the view to building a timesheet system that locked their users out of the company’s network until the user’s timesheet was completed. After a short tender process Consolidated Communications Management decided we were the most suitable solution provider.

The solution we developed is restricted by username/password access, although it is accessible over the web from any computer, the user must authenticate with the system first. Once logged in, the main homepage of the system is displayed according to the user’s level of access. Different areas are shown/hidden, the idea is to make it as user friendly and as accessible as possible. All areas of the system are easily accessible from this homepage as well as displaying the user a breakdown of any outstanding timesheets they may have.

The system has a number of different entry methods available: Quick, Daily and Weekly allowing the user to enter in as much or as little information as convenient. The Daily and Quick Entry methods allow the user to enter in a little more information than the week entry –notably the Narrative for a job, this is useful for aspects such as recording who the user spoke to during a phone call etc –we’ve found that users do lookup when they spoke to someone on the timesheet system as well as what they spoke about.

The system has very in-depth reporting built in giving the managers detailed time utilisation information, at present the data is being reported as straight forward data which can be copied into Excel for reporting purposes however an export to Excel and graphing functionality is already being discussed to give a faster top-level view to the Consolidated Communications Management users.

Since developing this timesheet application for Consolidated Communications Management we have adopted a watered down version of the timesheet system for internal reporting. As it is a bespoke system we can easily adapt it for other organisations and add additional functionality as required.
